Whether it’s work, home, or a combination of both, we all have chaos in our lives. For me, it’s usually juggling work and parenting, while somehow keeping our house clean and dinner on the table. So how do we work through the crazy panicked days without getting overwhelmed giving up? I’ve got a few tips to keep your figurative boat afloat.
Stick to a routine
It’s easy to abandon everything else you’re supposed to be doing to focus on something else, but you’ll just be playing catch up again later. Don’t forget about your regular responsibilities, but try to prioritize what issues need to be dealt with first. You may also find sticking to your routine helps keep you grounded and on task.
Take a break
It may seem counterproductive when you have heaps to get done, but giving yourself a quick mental break can work wonders. Grab a coffee, catch a cat nap, or step outside for a little fresh air. You’ll likely find yourself refreshed, re-energized, and ready to get back to kicking butt.
Identify what’s stressing you out
Take a minute to figure out what’s pushing your buttons and raising your stress levels. Do what you can to minimize or eliminate the stressor.
Working in hyperdrive is exhausting. Slow your pace down and breathe. Just a minute or two of deep breathing can help calm your body and mind.
Control what you can – forget what you can’t
Focus your energy on the things you can change and fix, and try not to worry about the rest. There’s no use wasting time and energy on things beyond your control.
