When you have a lot going on, it’s easy to forget to take time for yourself. While powering through may seem like the most productive option, even a five minute break can make a big difference. You’ll come back refreshed, recharged, and ready to rock again. Here are a few tips to help you squeeze a little me time into every single day.
Put your phone down, turn off the electronics, and have a little quiet time. Walk away from technology and enjoy the quiet and time with your own thoughts. Read a book, indulge in a bubble bath, or take a nap! Try to be mindful of letting things go and being still, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
Enjoy a cup of tea, catch up on your favourite TV show, or do a little online shopping and buy something that’s just for you. Sometimes I sneak off to the kitchen to eat a piece of chocolate while my daughter is playing in the other room. And sometimes, that’s truly enough.Treat yourself with a little me time every single day. #mindfulness #selfcare Click To Tweet
Indulge in your favourite hobby
Pick your knitting back up, go that sports league you joined but hardly ever make it to, or start something totally new. It forces your brain to focus on something other than your stressful day, and you’ll have fun doing it!
Instead of sitting at your desk, go for a quick walk on your lunch break. Step outside for a breath of fresh air and watch the sunset after dinner. Getting into nature can help sooth and refresh your body and mind, and provide some much needed perspective.
Schedule it in
When in doubt, add it to your calendar. Schedule yourself a lengthy lunch once a week. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you when it’s time for a break. It might seem silly, but seeing it on paper or your phone will make you more likely to stick to it.
